Environmental Manager
My whole career has been with Michelin in Stoke, whilst originally recruited as an apprentice engineering technician for the Michelin Site in Dundee and I came down to Stoke for 3 years training but I am still here over 38 years later.
Finished my apprenticeship as a graduate engineer from the North Staffs Polytechnic (before it was Staffs University) with BSc Hons in Mechanical Engineering.
I have held a variety of posts including shift maintenance manager, process control manager for truck tyre manufacturing, maintenance engineering manager, car tyre industrialisation technician, process quality manager and moving into the site environmental manager role in 1998.
My current role is the Environment and Risk Prevention Manager with responsibility for the group covering protection of personnel and property covering the areas of environment, health & safety, ergonomics, hygiene, fire and security. My personal specialist areas are environment, waste management, ergonomics and fire prevention and protection and also hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Management.
Within the environmental field all the UK sites are ISO 14001 accredited since 2002 and I am an internal lead auditor carrying out EMS audits in sites within the UK and Europe.
