Update on Events (August 2009)

Future Events

Invites have already been sent out for SBEN’s AGM, which is to be held on 3rd Sept,
at the Wedgwood Visitor Centre, Barlaston.

This year’s keynote speaker is Peter Laybourn, Programme Director, National Industrial Symbiosis Programme (NISP).  Peter will be giving a presentation highlighting the successes of industrial symbiosis in reducing costs, providing opportunities and contributing to a low carbon economy.  His case studies from the West Midlands region will show the innovative solutions NISP can provide and you may find a solution to the waste issue you have had for years!!

As mentioned in the last edition, there will be a small amount of time given over to administrative issues including a short presentation by members of the SBEN team on the previous year’s performance.

Finally, there will be an award presentation by Janet Bailey (SBEN Chairman) to recognise a significant contribution to the network by one of its members.

We had a tremendous turnout at last year’s AGM and would like to encourage as many members as possible to attend.

On Friday 2nd October, we will be holding a half day event on Environmental Risk Assessment and Producer Responsibility.  This will be held at The Holiday Inn, M6, Junction 15 (Newcastle).  Presentations will be given by:

  • Nadiya Seeloch (Groundwork) – Environmental Risk
  • Leigh Holloway (Envirowise) – Producer Responsibility

In addition to the above, Dave Chesters from Track Training Services UK Ltd, will also be giving a presentation on “Making Yourself Recession Proof! Tips & Techniques to help safeguard your own position”.  A very topical subject at this present time!!

We were originally planning to hold a breakfast seminar on Energy, on 20th October. This was to be the last in a series of 4 events focussing on this subject.  However, as we already have one event arranged for October, we have now decided to postpone this until early next year.  We are very conscious that this is a difficult period for delegates to spend precious time away from their businesses.

Places can be reserved via our website, under the “Events” section www.sben.co.uk

Our thanks to the speakers: Nadiya Seeloch (Groundwork), Rob Sutherland-Scott (Environment Agency) and Tim Robins (Envirowise).
