Event Details:

We were delighted to be working in partnership with RE:think Energy to offer this exciting opportunity to visit BiogenGreenfinch.

BiogenGreenfinch takes what everyone throws away - waste from the UK food chain - and uses it as fuel to make renewable energy. And what a popular visit this turned out to be!  Due to financial contraints there was originally only 20 places available, but thanks to our colleagues in the RE:think Energy team (and their funding), we were able to increase this to 41!

Lucy Lewis (Innovations Manager) gave a fascinating presentation on the Integrated Anaerobic Digestion plant, which uses food and animal waste as a fuel.  The rich bio-fertiliser created goes back on the fields in "harmony with arable crop growth".  Their process ensures that what started on the farm ends back on the farm and nothing goes to waste.

Lucy coped admirably with the numerous questions and is clearly very enthusiatic about her work!  Comments from the delegates included:

"Very interesting and relevant subject.  Good venue and interesting speaker"
"Well presented and constructed presentation"

Pictured from left to right are: Colin Hardwich, Chris Holt, Tim Wilman and Lucy Lewis.  The biogas is collected from four tanks and is piped through stainless steel pipes to the gas holder which is the white “bubble” in the background!
