Air quality: Domestic burning of house coal, smokeless coal, manufactured solid fuels and wet wood - call for evidence

Many everyday activities essential for supporting lives and livelihoods can cause air pollution. The air quality impacts of driving are widely discussed and understood, but vehicles are not the only source of air pollution. Generating power, heating homes, industry and agriculture can all contribute, as they generate air pollutants such as particulate matter, nitrogen dioxide and sulphur dioxide.

Funding - New battery technologies for electric vehicles

This funding opportunity is the latest in government’s Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund Faraday Battery Challenge. It is a £246 million investment over four years and will support the development of safe, cost-effective, durable, lighter weight, high-performing and recyclable batteries in the UK. A share of £25 million is available in the latest competition, which can be split into R&D or feasibility, and the deadline for both aspects is 28 March.

Fully-funded Energy and Low Carbon Consultancy Now Available

Fully-funded consultancy is now available to businesses across Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire, following a partnership between Keele University and Stopford Energy and Environment.

The initiative is part of the University’s Smart Energy Network Demonstrator (SEND), an ambitious programme aiming to create Europe’s first ‘at scale’ living laboratory to research, develop and test new energy-efficient technologies in a real-world environment.
